John Pollina and Amanda Benjamin
recorded victories in the Vinny Hutton/Kurt Steiner SIAC Fun
Run Championship Race at Clove Lakes Park.
Pollina covered the three mile
course in 16:18, outlasting Sergey Shteyn (16:25). Scott
LaMorte (16:59), Jeff Benjamin (17:07) and Marco Cammayo
(17:18) rounded out the top five overall finishers.
Amanda Benjamin won the women's
race in 21:45, holding off Karen McNamara (22:06) and Jen
Thomas (22:38). Ellen Brennan Hearn (23:04) and Kerice
DiResta (23:21) placed fourth and fifth for the women.
Again this year, the family of
Vinny Hutton turned out to remember their father/grandfather
and support the SIAC runners in the first race of the Steve
Lauria Memorial series.
Entered into the memorial race in
remembrance of his grandfather was Jeff Hutton, retired NYPD.
The Hutton family cheered on Jeff and the rest of the
participants in this special race for the family and
appreciates SIAC for remembering Vinny's contribution to the
racing community on Staten Island.
