3 Mile Fun Run

Luis Oyola and Alma Ramos recorded victories at the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at chilly Clove Lakes Park. Oyola covered the three mile course in 19:32, outlasting second place Scott LaMorte (20:15). Steve Woitkowski (21:08), Fred Rigolini (22:26) and Michael Tobin (22:33) rounded out the top five overall finishers.

Ramos won the women's race in 24:42, with Ellen Brennan Hearn second in 25:40. Catherine Morrison-Buck (27:55), Lisa Rigolini (28:14) and Ruth Fairbrother (32:14) were third through fifth for the women.

Conditions at Clove Lakes, though not as cold as last week, were difficult, as wind, cold and patches of icy snow served to hamper the runners and slow down their times. Veterans Luis Oyola and Alma Ramos prevailed. Tim McCauley wins the gentleman's award by fixing Alma's car in the two minutes he had before the start of the race. I gave him an opportunity to wait until after the race, but he was confident of completing the task in 2 minutes with a safety pin as his only assistance. He succeeded.

Mark Kennedy Vogt and Lisa Rodham Rigolini officially began campaigning for the SIAC President and Vice-President positions before and after the race. This writer endorses their candidacy, by the way, and hopes he retains the head writer job in the next administration.
