3 Mile Fun Run

Mike Cassidy and Rakibat Abiola recorded victories at the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at sunny Clove Lakes Park. Cassidy covered the three mile course in 16:11, outlasting Dean Grusky (16:41) and Scott LaMorte (17:01). Richie Orazem (17:24) and John Cassidy (17:59) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Abiola won the women's race in 21:30, narrowly defeating Gail Marino (21:48). Donna Johnson (26:12), Karen Neis (27:43) and Lisa Rigolini (29:04) rounded out the top five female finishers.
Times were fast today, as warm but comfortable conditions prevailed, with deep blue skies overhead. The top five men all broke 18:00, as today's Fun Run had the deepest field in recent memory. Rakibat Abiola won a narrow victory over Gail Marino on the women's side. Yes, the back dirt parking lot was locked again; every week is a guessing game!
Reminder, there is no Fun Run next week, in deference to the Trail Run at Wolfe's Pond Park. The second Fun Run of the Steve Lauria Series resumes on July 26 at 9 a.m.
