3 Mile Fun Run
May 24, 2003
By Dave Panza
Dean Grusky and Gail Marino were the winners in the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at rainy Clove Lakes Park. Grusky covered the three-mile course in 16:53, with Mohammed Lahseni second in 17:48. A-Born Etchison (19:55), Gene Galasso (20:06) and Phil Jonas (22:22) rounded out the top five male finishers.
Gail Marino won the women's race in 21:49, finishing fifth overall. Lissy Binder (25:23) was second, while Mary Molski (26:01), Ruth Fairbrother (28:42) and Elizabeth Quinones (28:53) finished third through fifth. Quinones set a personal record with her effort.
Aside from the top finishers, the runners jogged through the course today, in preparation for Monday's SI Advance four-miler. Kudos to Dean Grusky for his winning effort of 16:53, complete with a splattering of mud on his running attire and body, and also to Elizabeth Quinoes for her personal best 28:53.
Mark Vogt and Scott LaMorte not only jogged through the course together, but were wearing matching old SIAC shirts!
