3 Mile Fun Run
February 1, 2003
Dean Grusky and Ariana Cannavo recorded victories at the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at icy Clove Lakes Park. Grusky covered the three-mile course in 17:38 in outlasting second place Luis Oyola (18:58). Vin Stasi was third in 19:14 and Gene Galasso was fourth in 19:19, while Scott LaMorte and Jeff Benjamin tied for fifth in 19:27.
Cannavo won the women's division handily in 21:30, with Colleen Mulligan second in 24:09 and Jen Baranello a narrow third in 24:11. Lisa Rigolini (27:43) and Kathy O'Hara (29:43) rounded out the top five women.
Conditions were deceptively icy at Clove Lakes, with temperatures hovering around the freezing point this morning. The bridges were especially slick, with runners using extreme caution in navigating those areas of the course. But everyone ran smartly, and no injuries were reported, just lots of ice stories afterwards.
